Adventure Club welcomes all students in grades K-2 to its meetings on Tuesday afternoons 4-5pm during the school year. A different theme is chosen every week. Sessions begin with the reading of a book based on the theme followed by a related craft activity and time for building with Legos.
Story Hour for pre-schoolers is held every Wednesday from 10:30AM to 11:30AM in the Children’s Room. This program features reading from a popular book for children and is often followed by a simple craft activity.

Newbury Public Library offers a reading buddies program for any child (ages 3-17) who needs extra reading practice or just wants to read to someone new. Children can bring books they are working on or select items for the library’s collection.
Reading buddy sessions will last no longer than 30 minutes, and must be scheduled with a librarian ahead of time.
The book discussion group meets on the first Monday of every month at 7PM. Every month the group picks one book to read and discuss. Biographies, histories, and stories about New England are popular subjects although the range of topics varies with the interest of the group. All book aficionados are welcome to participate.
The poetry group meets on the second Monday of every month at 7PM to share their work. The group is led by award winning author Dianalee Velie. Anyone who has an interest in writing or listening to poetry is invited to participate.
